When lead shot for waterfowl hunting was banned in 1991 and replaced with steel, many hunters realized its limitations. In recent year’s better steel and tungsten mixed with iron, nickel and various polymers have improved non-toxic shot enormously. All in all, replacing lead with non-toxic shot has been good for both our wetlands and the waterfowl that depend on them.
