More than 100 union members turned out for the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance’s (USA) inaugural Chicago Sportsmen’s Dinner on Thursday, December 1 at the Piazza Bella Trattoria & Osteria restaurant in Chicago.

Hosted locally by Illinois AFL-CIO President Michael Carrigan, Chicago Federation of Labor President Jorge Ramirez and Chicago and Cook County Building Trades President Tom Villanova, the dinner raised more than $18,000 to support the USA’s conservation mission.

“With more than 74% of union members expressing an interest in hunting, fishing or shooting, this event offered Chicago union members the unique opportunity to connect on a lifestyle level during a time when solidarity is key,” said USA Executive Director Fred Myers.

Tickets to the event included dinner, an open bar and a commemorative gift. Attendees also had the opportunity to win a raffled gun, every 30 minutes, and connect with more than 100, like-minded union sportsmen and women.

UA Local 597 member Dan McNally, who’s slated to star on the USA’s national TV show Brotherhood Outdoors this spring, was on hand to share his experience filming the TV show as well has highlight the USA’s commitment to union outdoorsmen and women in the Chicago area.

Sponsored by the Union Insurance Group (UIG), one-hundred percent of the proceeds raised benefit the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance’s work to unite the union community while expanding and improving hunting and fishing access and wildlife habitat throughout North America.
