USA Take Kids Fishing Day Planned for June 9
Nashville, TN—The Union Sportsmen’s Alliance’s (USA) Boots on the Ground conservation program has teamed up with the Western Wisconsin AFL-CIO to host Take Kids Fishing Day from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 9 at Pettibone Lagoon, located at 700 Pettibone Drive North in La Crosse.
This unique event is free and open to the public but limited to the first 150 kids. Fishing poles, bait and lunch will be provided but participants must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or chaperone.
“Take Kids Fishing Day is the perfect opportunity to educate youngsters on the benefits of fishing,” said USA National Events Coordinator Tim Bindl. “It’s also a great way to show families the abundance of public access opportunities available in our community.”
The USA’s Boots on the Ground (BOTG) program brings together union members from around the country, who are willing to volunteer their time and expertise, to tackle conservation projects that improve and enhance public access, wildlife habitat and outdoor experiences for communities across America. This special youth fishing day is one of four events being held nationwide to promote the importance of educating a future generation of American anglers.
To register, contact the La Crosse Parks and Recreation Department at 608-789-7533 by Wednesday, June 6. For more information about the BOTG Take Kids Fishing Day or to find out how you can help, contact Tim Bindl at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or 608-397-1023.
