Union Sportsmen’s Alliance and Beretta Award NASCAR Weekend
NASHVILLE- The Union Sportsmen’s Alliance and Beretta recently awarded Bill Garity, a retired member of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 5 in Gambrills, Md., and Ben Loose, a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 494 in Port Washington, Wis., with trips to the 2009 Texas Motor Speedway NASCAR weekend as part of a USA member promotion.
The two prize packages, each valued at $6,000, included an all-expenses-paid trip for two to Texas Motor Speedway for a weekend of motorsports racing excitement complete with airfare, lodging, VIP seating and all access pit passes. To top it off, Beretta also awarded each winner with a limited-edition, American-made 3901 12-gauge shotgun stylishly engraved with the USA logo on the receiver.
"We at Beretta recognize the value of the USA as it brings together union sportsmen who share a passion for the outdoors and a desire to preserve it for future generations" said Christopher Merritt, general manager of Beretta. "Since the Texas Motor Speedway promotion has been such a tremendous success in previous years, we were thrilled to continue the sweepstakes and award two USA members with an incredible racing experience."
Watching NASCAR from the stands was a first for both Garity and Loose. "The whole experience was pretty overwhelming," said Garity. "The track was bigger than I could’ve imagined, and the intensity of the race itself was unbelievable."
"Everything went way beyond my expectations," said Loose. "Everyone from Beretta was really friendly and helped to make this a once in a lifetime experience. I can officially check this off my bucket list."
The chance to win hunting and fishing gear and trips along with special packages like the Beretta-Texas Motor Speedway giveaway is one of the many benefits of the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance, a unique hunting and fishing club of the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership and 20 AFL-CIO affiliated unions for union members, retirees and their families.
"Beretta has been extremely supportive of the USA since our inception. In addition to the Texas Motor Speedway trips, Beretta provides a gift certificate for every new member, sponsors the USA’s Gun-a-Month giveaway program and participates in our sporting clays shooting events," said Fred Myers, executive director of the USA. "We are proud to have Beretta on our side, and we look forward to working with them in the future to make membership in the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance an even greater value."
