In mountainous areas like Washington’s Cascade Range or Colorado’s Rockies, ruffed and blue grouse can be found picking grit (gravel) and dandelion seed heads alongside logging roads well into the morning—if that particular morning is cool and overcast. Put in the miles, locate the birds, and turn that black lab loose.
