Allyson Jungbluth, daughter of IBEW Local 158 member David Jungbluth from Reedsville, WI, harvested her first whitetail in Wisconsin in Dec. 2010. Ally completed her hunter’s safety course in September. When October rolled around, she and her dad participated in Wisconsin’s youth gun deer hunt, but 80 degree temperatures curtailed deer movement. Their next opportunity arose in December, just eight days after Allyson’s 12th birthday. With a projected blizzard, the deer were on the move. At 4:06 p.m., a deer offered a quartering away shot at 40 yards. Ally’s youth model Mossberg 20-gauge shot true, and grand memories were made for both father and daughter. Although the 80 mile trip home took nearly twice as long on icy roads, the time passed quickly as Ally and David reminisced over the day’s events. She is already anticipating next year’s opportunity and is excited about being able to hunt for deer “with antlers”, big ones!
