We are looking for Made in the U.S.A. outdoor gear to feature in the summer issue of The Union Sportsmen’s Journal. If you have a U.S. made product that you are very pleased with, help us tell other USA members about it. Let us know what the product is - and feel free to tell us what you like about it.
If you are in the market for a certain outdoor product and want to know what brands are U.S. made, let us do the research for you. If we find something, we’ll feature it in The Union Sportsmen’s Journal and let you know what we find in advance. But you have to tell us what you’re looking for.
a few i know of are Simms and St.Croix and they both have Americian made products, they also make some of there product overseas. that seems to be the norm anymore. i recenty purchased Simms waders made in Bozeman, Montana very happy with then Simms stand behind there product if you have any problems with them they’ll fix or replace. St.Croix is made in Park Falls WI i own 3 St.Croix rods good quality and an outstanding waranty.
I just bought a product by Fishpod called the PIO (Pack it out) its a small trash container you can hook to your belt, vest, or just about anywhere its only a couple of inches long and can hold cigarette buts pieces of leader or and small trash. thing works great. American made, don’t know about the rest of there products though.
Kate,
I’m gonna be in the market for a couple new rifle scopes this year. Are any of the U.S. manufacturers (Leupold/Redfield, Burris, Bushnell) gonna jump in and maybe offer discounts? Also would like to know who makes scopes for stores like Cabelas, Scheels, etc., and if they’re U.S. made. These “store name” scopes are actually pretty nice, and usually have a “no questions asked” warranty.
Kate,
I’m looking to replace my GPS-sounder unit on my boat, Have looked @ a few websites & some say they have a plant in US. Doesn’t necessarily mean all models are made here. Also doesn’t mean they’re union. Wish they would put union logo on website if they are. Top manuf. are Lowrance, garmin, hummingbird, raymarine. Finding a union made one would HEAVILY sway my choice, even if a diff brand had a little better options. THANKS!
& we could really increase your workload if every time we went to buy something, “Ask Kate” & thanks again for your hard work!
Here is a website that can help us all search for UnionMade, use search feature lower right of screen. http://www.unionlabel.org/index.cfm
Also looking for other sites.
We’ve actually talked to the Union Label folks and we have been to their big shows in previous years in Cincy and Detroit. This is a good starting spot but as you will see, the outdoor category isn’t covered very well.
We have talked about trying to create our own directory to point folks to union made/U.S. made and might just begin to ramp this up as I think a lot of folks might appreciate and benefit from this list. If anyone has some ideas on this please feel free to share.
Bad news about Cabela’s brand rifle scopes - they are made in China. Customer service told me that the U.S. brand scopes they carry are the Leupold, which we already know. I’m waiting to hear back from Scheels.
Andrew - we shared your forum post with the folks at Leupold and Burris to spur them along in providing discounts for USA members. We will continue to push them.
I’ve started making inquiries about GPS systems, though when it comes to electronics, they’re almost always made overseas.
0 for 2. To answer your question Andrew, I contacted Scheels customer service about their rifle scopes. Instead of answering my question, they said I would need to contact a Scheels store near me. I called a couple stores and found that the Scheels brand rifle scopes are not made in the U.S.
Keep the gear ideas coming - let me know what products you are in the market for.
Kate,
Thanks for the research on the “store scopes”. Probably could’ve done it myself, instead of bugging you. More than likely gonna go with Leupold or Redfield, but I have a couple other brands to check out.
not all Burris scopes are made in the USA. One model that is is the Signature model. There is talk Leupold may soon be getting parts for their scopes from foreign suppliers. I hope that is just a rumer. I own 3 Leupold scopes and each one is clear in any light situation
This reply is for Andrew Luepold is now making the Redfield line of scopes at a reasonable price. I don’t know how they are cutting corners on this scope line or where they are actually produced. Other than that I would say shop for used Luepolds I don’t think there is anything wrong with that since even a used luepold has a valid lifetime warranty.
Cheaper Burris are foreign made. The Signature model isn’t. I was going to buy one. Then since I already had 2 Leupold. And like how they do I bought another Leupold vx3
