Welcome Jordan! Live in SD next to the IA border. Had to go to Des Moines for my apprenticeship. There is some nice country in your neck of the woods. There are a couple people around you. I’m sure they will talk to ya. Nice Veisla (spelling?). I went cheap and got a Lab.

Mostly pheasant, but I don’t have anything against shooting some waterfowl as well.  I have a young Lab pup and I’m hoping to get her on some birds this fall…This is my pup at 6 weeks she is 13 weeks now, doubled in size and showing improvements everyday.

Jordan,

Welcome to the USA and to this forum in particular.  I know Jason B. can probably talk to you as he’s really active in outdoors.  Let’s see if some other folks can answer your call as well.

Take care,

Mike

Cool, lots of work, lots of fun.  My wife says she’s is lucky she is still so cute at this age or she wouldn’t get away with all her shenanigans.  Have you ever heard of Mid Iowa Retriever Club?  I’ve missed the last 2 meetings but I’m gunna try to make it to the next meeting.  Here is a link to there web site-  http://mirc.shutterfly.com/

Both her parents are fox red, she came from http://www.ukbritlabs.com out of Atwater MN, even the vet first thought she was a golden retriever before she checked her papers for her first shots.  The website isn’t that impressive, but the dogs they have sure are.

You can make all the jokes about Iowa you want, I only moved here a few years ago.  I’m originally from Minnesota- ‘ya sure you betcha’

attached is Kia at 14 weeks…

Jordan, Im from the Pleasantville area, just southeast of Des Moines 15 miles, Pheasant hunting hasnt been to hot the last few years…Your best bet for next year would to be to plan some trips up to Northern Iowa… Seems like all the birds are up there… Otherwise I have a membership at a game farm, I bought it for my pup to get started that way he was garunteed birds… It really worked out good. Hes a great hunting dog now…Let me know if you need some more info on this game farm…Lots of perks about it…No limit on birds, hunt September 1st to March 31…Shoot hens and roosters….They also have quail, and chukar… Let me know if you would like more info on this….
