AQUILLA, Ohio — It’s quite the man cave.

Jimmy Grey says he’s been out of work for almost a year and needed a project to stay busy. So with the heavy snowfall this winter, the 25-year-old laborer got to work on an extreme igloo in his family’s yard in Aquilla (ah-KWIL’-uh), about 30 miles east of Cleveland.

His four-room creation has 6-foot ceilings and an entertainment room. He powers the TV with an extension cord plugged into an outlet in the garage. He also ran wires for cable television with surround-sound stereo.

Grey says candles help add ambiance for nighttime get-togethers with friends, and the freezing temperatures mean that the beer never goes warm.

Must be an awful lot of yellow snow around if he is entertaining and drinking beer.

I’m starting mine tomorrow! Got a couple coolers to use for forms, and a way to get water outside without freezing pipes. Was gonna mention something about a GFCI outlet, but I have never met a Laborer that could understand that concept. No offense, cause it could be a geographical thing! Gonna stop before I go on a rant.

Ok Andrew…...If youre serious, I want to see a picture of it when you get done.

Even I can’t believe it, but yeah I’m serious. Started yesterday morning about ten o’clock. Plan is to make it 12’x12’. Scooped out a 15’x15’ path down to grass. I am using a 16"x8"x12” cooler to make blocks. Has been pretty cold, so the snow is powder. Takes about a gallon of water to make one block. Made four blocks and stopped about two o’clock.
Have learned a few things in the process:

Masons and Laborers work way to hard! You are a dedicated man Jimmy Grey! And Willie, if you read this, wanna come back to South Dakota?

A nice “flat” yard is not flat!

My neighbors really do think I’ve lost my mind!

So, it has begun. Have a couple pics on my phone I will try to post. When my wife, the fun ####, saw what I did/am doing she made me a list of more “constructive” things to do today. So construction has stopped till tomorrow, which works out because it’s gonna be almost thirty! I think I have a system down, so it should go a little faster.

It appears I can not compare my lovely wife to a WW2 German soldier. Sorry!

My boy was sick yesterday. Still is, but the wife is home today, so I should be able to get out there today. As long as she cooperates!
