mcneely,

I am hoping that some other USA members chime in on this as i know there have been postings of great pictures of their kills.  I did want to let you know that the USA is working with an outfitter group called Outdoor Connection and they might be able to help you as well.  They appear to be a very professional group that work with 250-300 lodges and camps around the world.  They currently have a relationship with NWTF and do a lot of their travel packages for their banquets and events as well and we are working with them to plan some USA member hunts and fishing trips (stay tuned!).  The thing we like about them is that they are a full-service group and they can do darn near everything for you but most important, you don’t have to pay extra for their service.  They make their money through the lodge so the amount you would pay the outfitter if you booked on your own is the amount you will pay if you book through Outdoor Connection.

They have dedicated a guy to work with the USA and its members and he is a pretty straight shooter with no bull s*%$.  I am going to list his contact info. and would suggest that you give him a call or send him a note if you want to see what he can find for you.

If you decide to have Maine be your destination, I could help you out or at least put you in contact with some reputable people.  Did you want to hunt over bait or with hounds?  I know USA has Howards guide service out of Island falls Maine that you might be able to take advantage of his deal with the USA.

Wherever you decide to go, I hope your trip is a memorable one.

Happy hunting

If WI is your destination, there are some good outfitters here with high success rates.  Not sure of the out of state rates, but lots of bears in the northern part of the state.

mcneely,
Fellow member Dan Campbell went on a boar hunt in PA. He said the outfitter he used also did bear hunts with a good success rate.
Sent the info to your PM box. Hope it helps, and thank Dan.

If you feel like traveling to New Mexico check out Folsom Outfitters .com. They have color phase bears and black ones. Real good kill percentage. Check out the photos on his website. You’ll never find a better outfitter.

If you are going to Canada, you should check with Sean Lingl’s Canadian Guide Outfitters.  He is on Vancouver Island, and it is a great hunt.  It is spot and stalk hunting, and there are lots of big bears.  Everything about the trip is good, most importantly the hunting, but also the accomodations, food, and knowlegible guides that are fun to hunt with.

bear hunting is something i did as a kid. SCARED ME TO DEATH! my dad’s idea is to hide in the woods and wait for the bear to come to you. is that how it is done every where?

the frist question is how much do you want to spend. How much time off do you have. In alaska were just getting started on spring brown bear. And as of the 14th of april black bear baiting has opened. With is going to be a good year. I’ll have some picture as soon as they start hitting the bait.
