I am going on a vacation in a few weeks to Cancun Mexico.  Can anyone steer me in the right direction as to what type of fishing I should be doing there?  I am in the Northeast corner of USA and I am way out of my league fishing there but I couldnt live with myself if I didnt at least try.  There are charters down there but I dont know who I can trust or if Im getting ripped off.  Anyone been there and have suggestions?  Anyone been there and have suggestions other than fishing?  Yeah, I know......all inclusive drinking.  Well, there will be plenty of that too but I would like to hear from anyone who has experience going there.

Thanks

Check with the hotel, the people that they have connections with are pretty reputable. If they weren’t they would give the hotel a bad name. Also, I have heard that there is good sailfishing that runs out of Isle Mujers which is right off the coast of Cancun. Check some websites for what is running while you will be visiting. The best part about the trip will be the warm weather and sunshine.

The last time I went to Cancun we went and talked with the locals by a Pizza Hut across from Hotel Grand Oasis. They took us out in a 21ft boat and fished for Barracuda...they have Teeth like Alligators!!  We caught around 10 fish in 2 hours. A lot of fun and cheap, I believe we paid in total $250 for half of day with 6 of us in the boat, Corona’s were included!!

Thanks guys.........I have been getting the same advice from some people at work that have vacationed there.  They all say to inquire asap because they book up quick.  You can bet that it will be one of the first things I do.

Tim, I will try to keep my fingers away from those barracuda.  Thanks for the advice!!
