It amazes me how inconsiderate people are nowadays.  While reading Rons original post I had alot of old feelings come back to me because it reminded me of a large white tail I lost years ago.  I was sick about it for a year it seemed.  I know that I did everything possible to recover that deer and I know in my heart he didnt make it.  I simply could not find him. He was hit with a .300 magnum, not an arrow.  It happens from time to time and its a crying shame for the hunter involved.

You need a lesson in manners.  Ron doesnt need you or anyone else to remind him about the elk meat he lost.  If you are that sensitive about it maybe you should consider crotcheting.  I hear its therapeutic for the mind.  And hell, you might knit up a nice crying towel.

Well guys, I figured I would get this response. First of all I am no tree hugger. I have shot and killed forteen elk in my hunting career in Idaho and Washington. I did loose an elk once that was shot with a rifle and understand it does happen. I am currently a Master Hunter in Washington State. The Master Hunter program in Washington is consists of community service for wildlife enhancement, passing a tough test, shooting profeciency, crimminal observation training and a background check. I have never hunted from a stand. I hunt the mountains and would put my skills as a hunter up against yours any time. I don’t hunt with a guide, however, I would like to someday as I just turned 59 and elk hunting is a tough sport.
I have listened to bow hunters for years brag about sticking an animal that got away which has always bugged me.
My post was a reminder to bow hunters that a trophy hanging on the wall is not what hunting is about.
Good hunting to ya!
Paul

Trevor,  What do you mean by a private message? Is it somewhere on this website or are you sending me an e-mail? I don’t know much about these forums.

Look at the top of this page, there should be a green box that says PM (the box is green when you have a message and brown when there are no new messages). Next to it is the word “Private Message”, click on that word. It should open up a new window. In there should be a message or some messages, kinda like e-mail. Once you get into the mail, you can reply or whatever you wish to do. It’s very similar to e-mail. If you don’t see a PM from me let me know and we’ll figure something else out!

The PM box is brown and when I point my cursor at it it says no new messages. If you click on my name a page comes up that will send me an e-mail. I’d hate to get my e-mail addsress out to some of these sickies. But I’d like to hear from you.
