Kinda quiet here. Anyone been out cleaning up stands? Got any pics of the MONSTER? I’ve seen a pretty good eight pointer the last few times I’ve been out snooping around. Good luck this year!

Now that you mention it…....I was moving a stand on my uncles farm tonight. My son went to move my truck from one end of the field down to where I was rehanging a stand. Wouldn’t you know it, he saw a nice 8 pointer(probably a 2 1/5 year old) and a really “BIG” 10 pointer 75 yards from my truck.  I never got a glimpse of them. But, we hung his stand 15 yards from the trail he saw the deer using. He called “dibs” on the spot right away.

That is cool Jason. Can’t wait till I can take my boy out and have him know what he is doing. He is only three right now. Knows that daddy hunts but that is about it. He will be very quiet in the woods. the other day we were doing a little trimming in a stand and I heard a whisper from him. “Daddy, there are some turkeys right over the hill”. I was so busy that I didn’t notice. We both sat still for a moment, and sure enough, we heard them seconds later. AMMASING! The turkeys on the other hand do not ammase me. They, in my opinion, are rats with wings! I think they should be exterminated! Probably the reason I don’t hunt them. Could not carry enough shells to kill the flocks of hundreds that I see in southeast South Dakota. Went on a tangent there. Maybe I should post it!

Something else. I should either use spell check, or learn how to “hunt and peck” again with my now numb fingers!!! Sorry for the misuse of amaze/amazed/amazing!

I spent a few days at hunting camp with some friends from NH and we did a little scouting.  Didnt see any deer but we did see alot of sign.  We were woken up in the middle of the night by a pack of coyote. They were definitely on the prowl.  I have a huge beaver problem that I am contending with.  They have water backed up almost to the camp.  What a nuisance.

I am going on a moose hunt in 2 weeks.  I have never been lucky enough to draw a permit but a good friend of mine did.  Anyone out there have any recommendations for a video camera?  There are so many models and platforms to buy from I am going nuts.  I have about 500 dollars to spend on it and I guess I would like to get my moneys worth on performance.  Any help would be appreciated.

Bow hunting started this weekend in WI…82 degrees!!!  Not really the ideal hunting conditions, nor the harvesting conditions.  I’ll be heading out to the stand next weekend, hopefully the weather will change…the colors are starting.

Michael, no advice on a camera, sorry. Hope you do get a moose tag someday. That is some tasty meat! No comment on the “huge beaver problem”!

Tim, I feel your pain! Same situation in South Dakota! Not bow hunting this year though. Saw a nasty non-typical white tail Saturday evening. He was gone before I could glass him for a good count. Am hoping I get a buck tag for rifle season, cause he was about 3/4 of a mile from my stand! Could all change by season, but I can dream!

When the sun rises in the morning, Bow season here in Nebraska will have officially begun! Unfortunately, I won’t be able to get out until Sunday evening. The best time of the year is upon us my friends. Even though I can’t hunt for a few days, I still feel like a little kid in a candy store! grin
