Nice Buck.  I have two trail cams, a Cuddyback and a Stealth Cam.  The Cuddyback is much better.  As a matter of fact, the Stealth Cam should be put in the dumpster.  The reaction time is so slow the only place it is any good is a bait station.  I have some great pictures from past years and I will post a couple of them next weekend.

Denny,
I agree with you, I have several different types. I do get alot of “empty” frames with the stealth cam. Are your stealth cams older or the new model?

The previous 2 bucks - 8 point, and 10 point are brothers, they are still hanging out together. I have watched these two paticular bucks for 3 years now. I bet I have around 40 pictures of them growing up. They are 3 1/2 this year, I can’t wait till they become 5 1/2, I hope they can continue to outsmart my neighbors.

When I first started using trail cams it seemed the flash spooked the deer. I noticed they would change their travel patterns by about 60 yards. So of course I changed my hunting spots - by about 50 yards. This worked great, I found I could almost funnel the deer to where I wanted them to go.

What is everyone preference? Flash or no Flash?

More to come….. wink

Yup, The flash does bother them to a certain extent.  However, I have found that when they are working a scrape, they are so focused that they will sometimes stay for a 2nd picture.  My Stealth Cam is digital but it is about 4 yrs old, so maybe they have made changes.  I have attached a variety of pictures from last year.  If you look close at the picture of the buck (yes, that is my back yard) he is flinching as the flash goes off.  It is really fun and a challange to set the cameras up to try and outsmart the critters.

Denny,
Great pictures! As promissed I will continue to post some pics, I average around 100 a week, some have nothing but the trigger effect, this can be due to an animal running, an owl or bat flying, or even just the wind blowing nearby limbs. I think I have around 7 cams. I have been looking into the type that send you the pictures via email. These are very expensive to start up, and I am on dial up which don’t help matters it’s very slow. I talked with a representative from a cam company who also showed me some you can sit and view real time from a unit that is within a 5 mile radius, these are very cool, but again slow on dial up.

I put photos on e-bay. A long time ago when it first started you had to post the photos on a separate program that held the photos on their web page (kind of). I still use it on e-bay because the photos come out bigger. I use a WSFTP program from IPSWITCH. You have to pay for it. I think there might be free ones on the net. Some internet providers, provide some space for this also. If your provider gives you a web page that would work also.
Once you get the photos on the net somewhere, you have to figure out what the URL(address) is, and like Gretchen said on another post you can use the [img]TYPE YOUR URL HERE[img]. But I tell you it took me a year to figure out what’s going on—and as soon as you figure it out some snotnose fresh from college punk changes it JUST BECAUSE!.
You have to have everything typed just right in computer language with justthe right capitals, spaces, and symbles just right or it won’t work.
THAT IS WHY THIS FORUM SHOULD HAVE THE PHOTO ATTACHMENTS WORKING! I think they are running this thing on their coffe breaks from their real jobs. I’ve been wanting to say this for a long time, now that the shotgun and boat is given to someone(I hope) I gues I can say it. Like I was going to win it anyhow.

There are free forum programs at Phpbb, and SIMPLE MACHINES FORUM on the net. Maybe their photo attaching would work. Are we locked into this one?

Folks,

Not married to this one but we also know that in working with our partners at Expression Engine over the last week that we should be able to clear this problem soon.  Let me make it clear that I am not a technical person so a lot of what is discussed between our IT person and the EE folks goes over my head but we apparently cleared a major hurdle yesterday and I am expecting some news today about the status.  I promise we aren’t taking this lightly and that we will have it fixed soon.  Thanks for bearing with us.

Thanks,

Mike

I’ve posted 2 photos this week , it seems to be working fine. I love the trail cam pictures I don’t own any because the ground I hunt doesn’t belong to me. I’m just a guest on the farm. I’m am thinking about buying one. Which one is the best for themoney & which one is the easyest to hide so it dosen’t get stolen?
