Does anyone have suggestions on what kind of black powder rifles are good for deer hunting?

tblayne,

I know there are some folks on this forum that will be much more informative than me but my brother fires the Thompson Center.  He owned an Encore and like it but recently switched to the Bone Collector Triumph and really likes the way it handles.  Just another note, I do hear that Knight makes some fine guns but they recently announced that they were going out of business so you might be a little cautious about going in that direction.  I own an Austin & Halleck which is a beautiful gun but they went out of business about 3-4 years ago so that probably isn’t a good route for you either.

Just my 2 cents worth.  Anyone else have some thoughts?

I have been seriously considering the Bone Collector as well.  I have always been a fan of T/C arms and this one looks like it has alot of character to it.  I have an old fire hawk that shoots decent but it doesnt have a removable breech.  Its a pain in the you know what to clean.

There are many great muzzle loaders out there.

If you like to shoot distance and have alot of money to spend, check out http://www.badbullmuzzleloaders.com

Yea, the Bone Collector is is supposed to be a bad little piece of machinery.  We spent a little time with Michael Waddell and he was talking about it and he’s really excited about what this gun has to offer.  If Michael and Jim Shockey like their TC’s that good enough for me.
