As an avid waterfowl hunter for over 30 years, I have seen many new commercially made decoys over the years. These new “Flocked” Mallard decoys made by Aero Outdoors, Inc. are truly groundbreaking. With simple, solid bodies, good paint schemes, and flocking on heads and tails of the drakes, these decoys are the most realistic I have ever seen. I decoyed wary late season mallards away from larger spreads while hunting in managed hunting areas, and also in heavily hunted marshes. These decoys have solid bodies that float more like a duck than other brands with hollow bodies. The flocking appears to be very durable, and with some care and minimal matinence they should last many seasons. I used mine all last season, rinsed the decoys with a very light soapy solution and rinsed them with clear water, and they look like new. The only downfall is they come with a carrying bag which is bulky and time consuming while setting and picking up spreads ( but to protect the looks of the decoys, it is almost a necessity ). Another plus is the Keels can be filled with any weight you deem necessary, I used sand, but I have a friend that used birdshot for more weight and stability on big open water.
These decoys are expensive, but well worth the money if you want the most realistic set you can achieve. And with care they should be up to the task for durability.
