Let’s continue our conversation here. I don’t know if it’s just me or just my computer, but the second page doesn’t show up for me. Just trying to “work” the system. Going to try posting another trail cam photo. I was turkey hunting and called in two coyotes. They came in on the next ridge over looking for the turkey. I happened to have a camera on a tree there. That is the one I got the bearderd hen photo from. One of them ran up to the camera and sniffed it. I thought well that should be a good photo. Weeks later after getting them developed, what I got was him runing away from the camera. Maybe it’s not as fast as I thought.

P.S. When I preview the post the phot shows up.

NOW I AM EDITING THIS POST. THE PHOTO DIDN’T SHOW UP ON MY COMPUTER. I’M USING A WSFTP PROGRAM I HAVE. LET’S SEE IF IT WORKS. WHEN I PREVIEW THE POST TWO PHOTOS SHOW UP

I use a ScoutGuard 550 trail camera.  I do have a Moultrie but the 550 is much faster and I can go for weeks on 1 set of aa batteries.  Plus it is about the size of a beer can.  Just my 2 cents worth.  Will try to post some pics soon.

Thank you Mikee,
Thanks for the intel on the cameras. Funny how the different companies have different technology and speeds on their cameras. I wonder if the high end/high dollar cameras of the same brands work better or if they would have the same “triggers”.
I have a Stealth 1540 IR and a Wildgame Innov. camera coming and will post the results of my backyard test when they get here.  The stealth was $108 and the wildgame on “special at check out” for $45 from Sportsman Guide.

Those are great prices,  the ScoutGuards are about $210.  I tried a Wildview for about $50 and you get what you pay for.  If the deer was not wihtin 5ft of it the flash would not reach and about half the pics were black outs.  I also had a Moultrie IR but I did not like the design and the size of the camera.  It took good pics but still had some that were white outs.  Thats just my 2 cents worth.

That’s what I am looking for, the 2 cents worth. meaning your info.
I’ll probably be sorry I bought the $108 Stealth but you would think they’d use the same “trigger” on all their cameras.
The second one will probably be a throw away, at that price, but we’ll see. The 35mm Stealth cameras are fast and they were only $45 at Wally World. This was years ago, don’t run out to buy one today.

Hey guys, I am still using my RECONYX’s. I just can’t believe the difference. As I stated before, I have tried several types going back to 35mm stealth cams back 4 or 5 years ago. The RECONYX is VERY EXPENSIVE about $450 for BW and $550 for color.

A month ago, I was lucky enough to have a company send me a package deal to try out. They sent 3 cams, a base unit, software for integrating with my computer and a trial subscription to what is like a cell phone provider. This whole system is supposed to work remotely. The say that you are should be able to see real time at any of the three cams. I have not had a chance to set any of it up yet, but I will let you all know how they work. This system too looks like it would be expensive. Package without satelite service (when I look on their web page) goes for around $3800. I can see if you wanted to scout your hunting location say in Colorado from say Michigan. Or maybe even if you had to drive a few hours to get exchange the cards in your cams. Imagine how you would feel if after not being able to see anything from one of the cams, so you go to check it and someone had sawed the tree and took your cam. What an expensive bummer that would be. Maybe someone ought to start an insurance company for things of that sort. Yikes, I digress….LOL

Thanks for the info on the cams. I guess I’d have to do without photos of deer if I was going to pay $400 for a camera that some idiot could steal pretty easily. Who do I have to see to get to try one of those for free?

I got those two cameras in the mail today. The wildgame Innov. camera is going back. It did take photos, but the programming buttons didn’t seem to work consistantly. I couldn’t tell if it was on or off. Real slow also.
The Stealth 1540 IR seems about as fast as my stealth 35mm. If I walked slow enough I could get in the photos.
I’m going to try it in the woods this week. It has the SD cards you can put in to change out in the field. Of course they are extra.

I use the stealth 1550 for my bear baits. I have had 8 of these cameras for about 3 years and they still work. I have had bears bite them and rip them from the tree and still work. I don’t know how they would work for nonbait sites as it does take alittle for them to activate. They are $129.99 definitely not the top price range, but they work for what I need. Identifying size and color of bears or if it is a sow with cubs.

Thanks for the info. Yes they are the lower price models but I wonder if the higher price ones work any better. I had the camera out for six days and got 8 photos. 2 deer, 1 of me, and 5 of the nicest patch of trees on my property. They aren’t the fastest. I guess I’ll have to go back to my 35mm. They are cheaper yet, but go off fast enough to capture a deer. There is an art to setting them out, I’m finding. I’ll have to try to set them where the critters are coming or going, not crossing from right to left.
I’m glad all I have to worry about getting my cameras are two legged polecats, not bears. But maybe that’d be a good thing, then I wouldn’t be living in central Ill.- the home of the crooked politicians! grin

if a fella was to aquire one of the trail camersa what would be the best to buy?

i think my neighbor is sneaking around the house borrowing things. i find things not where i left them. i have a 20 year old son still at home but if it invloves going out to the shed then he is not going.  LOL
the neighbor is not stealing from me but i think he is using things and then returning them. all he has to do is ask and i would let him. but he is only 5’5” tall and weighs about 120lbs, so maybe asking my big old self is scary or something. i eat 1 neighbor for pissing me off and now they are scared of me?  ROFLMAO!!!!

thanks guys and gals.
