Going to do something different on our early Iowa opener (22 September). Have a field that’s overflown by birds coming out of a local public hunting area, and going to set a small (2 LOOKER full-body Canadas, 12 field shell mallards, 1 remote MOJO mallard) field spread in hopes of getting some of ‘em to give us a look. Sure we can get our two woodies apiece - or at least I think! - but the mallards and teal will be a different story. Going to be interesting - M.D.

Should be a good set up. guess the hard part will be JUVL or ball setup. Are you in layouts or a pit or some other cover?

MO - JUVL or ball setup? I’m not sure what you mean there -

As far as blinds go, it depends. I’m going to sit at shooting time tomorrow to see what the birds do, if anything - AND to see what the boys have done in terms of chopping the corn. If there’s corn standing where it needs to be, we’ll just hunker in the standing stuff - if not, I have two Power Hunters grassed with Kill’R Weed ready to go. I’m hoping to drive in, but we got a little rain a couple nights ago, and I may end up packing all the stuff in on my back. We’ll see what happens there -

You hunt teal during the special season? - M.D.

Yep sure did, all i saw was about 4 limits of woddys though. only made it out one day.

JUVL the decoy spread layout. some people and insturction books place them in a J shape U shape V ect… some letter of the alphabit or just toss them out in a ball.

i normaly toos them out and make a small hole for them to land in if that fails i’ll switch to a U or something.
