Was it that bad?

I regularly need to move a canoe about 50 yards up a steep hill from the waters edge.  Just a bit more than I can handle alone or with a seven year old.

Interesting.  My camp is about 50 yards from teh river but about 20 feet striaght up hill.  Its difficult for my seven year old and I to haul the canoe up the river bank.  Was thinking the dolly might make that easier.

Have you tried a rope an tackle? Just might work if you have a tree to hook to.

I have one I bought from Cabelas that I use with my pirogues. One of the handiest things I have ever bought. I will never be without one after using it.

Mauser,

I thought about installing a pole in the ground at the top of the hill and then attaching one of those cranks like you find on a boat trialer.  That way I could just crank the canoe right up the bank.

If you could get ahold of a small winch, like on the front of an atv would work really well. Let me know how you make out!!
  Take care!!

I’m still figuring on it.

Our camp is on Greenbrier and the bank is dirt but straight up right in front of the camp.  I just ant man enough to hoist the boat up by hand.

I’ll let you know.

If you put a 6 by 6 in the ground with a plate to mount the winch on, all you would have to do is care a battery up to run the winch!! Even your 7 year old could do this without alot of stress!! Good luck an let me know how you make out.
