I was wondering if there are any products that offer native plant forage designed to do what say bio-logic or other nutrition food plot does. or suggestions on what native plants to plant to both attract and enhance game on my property.

It’s just a weird thing my friends have going on we planted native grass in our yard and would like to continue it with our food plots next year. insted of clover and other non native stuff. to kinda restore the land i guess some conservation kick were on.

Here’s a name of a Native Grass GURU. He’s the wildlife habitat director for FDC Enterprises - Grassland Services. He will answer any questions and give you the str8 skinny on what does and doesn’t work.

haven’t had a chance. we just got some new ground well mom and pop did, and been out scouting it. getting ready to move a trailer in on it for a summer place/ retirement spot for mom and dad. so any management plans have been put on hold for a while. while we work on it. seams like things just keep getting in the way.

It is very hard to beat the venerable persimmon tree. They can be purchased at any reputable nursery, Stark Brothers carries them too. I was asked by a young hunter in NC if I could show him the best place to hunt on his dads land. We had walked for a while and I saw a persimmon tree loaded with fruit. I said “there’s your spot”. He killed a nice 8 point there a week later. Persimmons will start hitting the ground in August and they sweeten after the first hard frost putting them as a GREAT food source leading to the rut. If the does come in the bucks will follow. TRUST ME, this is bar none the best “timed” fruit tree you can plant that will be there for years. I had several on my place and harvested bucks there every year. They prefer to grow at the sunny edge of a tree line and like dampness.
