I live in Hawaii and dabble in rod wrapping. I was wondering what experiences any of you have had with various blanks from various manufacturers? How about the various flex coats out there? I wanna start up a thread sharing pics of rods you’ve wrapped and any tips you may have. I’ve wrapped All-Star blanks, Fenwick blanks, and OutCast blanks. Hopefully I can get some pics up soon of my rods.
You might look into Rainshadow blanks. I fish Salmon and steelhead and own over 20 custom biult rods. I don’t do my own. Would like to but just don’t wanna take the time. Check out THCustomrods.com. They do all my work for me. I allso like Rouge rods. They biuld a fine rod blank allso. A guy can allways go with GLoomis allso. The Rainshadow blanks are made buy a company called Batson Enterprises. The guy started the Business after his boss (Gary Loomis) sold out to Shimano. the Rainshadow blanks are every bit the same quality as the GLoomis stuff or batter!!!
A guy can probably do a google search for custom rods or biulding custom rods.
One thing about Rainshadow blanks. They are only offered as a blank! you can’t buy them as a complete Rod. They are intended as a piece in a custom rod.
Buy biulding yer own you can use what ever componts you want as well as colors for the wraps and what ever type of reel seats you want. As you can image it’s endless what you can biuld. All my rods have my name on them and I have about 12 that live in the rod lockers of my Jet Sled. Those rods all have the name of my boat on them. “THE OUTA WATER EXPERIENCE”.
If you go to THcustomrods.com they have allot of pics of possibilitys. They allso have some customer pics with their custom rods or fish they caught. There should still be some of me with some steelhead I caught useing a custom TH biult Noodle Rod and 4 lb line.
Yep, I know what you mean BigBird. That is why I have those guys just biuld them for me. They do The best Custom work that I can find and I still spend less money than if I went and purchased the rods at a local store and I get better components than they use on the mass produced rods.
Maybe someday when I retire in about 27 years I will biuld my own.
