I hope that I’m not the only one having turkey dreams. Spent last weekend in Nasville at the NWTF SHOW. Spent way to much on calls and blinds and ect. Been hunting turkeys for over 44 years. The fever gets worse every year. I have over 50 box calls, over 10 slate calls. To many mouth calls to count along with the other so called turkey calls. Enough hunting clothes to dress an army. Not counting all of my hunting shoes. Have seven turkey vests to hull all of my junk to and from the woods. Of course only one vest at a time. But each vest has it own purpose on what location I’m at. That’s not counting the hunting tags. I have a life time hunting license here in Indiana. But I like to hunt other states. I got my Tennessee license for only $298.00 last week. Now I have kill turkeys in seven states but with the cost of gas and hunting license. I will just hunt Tennessee and here in Indiana. I retired last year to hunt all of the time. But retirement money has slow me down on traveling to far. Now I can hunt with out the thought of being late for work. Now only if I can get a full night sleep without dreaming about the next hunt. I guess you never get to old to hunt, or at lease I hope you don’t.

Our season opens in less than 45 days. Can’t wait! With the very mild winter we’ve had, the birds are very visable everywhere already. I’m just not brave enough to fess up to how much I spend on my hunting, let alone just one part of it. My wife looks at this site too. By the way, looks like a nice double beard. I’ve yet to take one of those.

David,

Great post and I have to tell you that I am getting fire-up too for turkey season.  Came to this a little later in life but like it as much as any other type of hunting I do now.  Can’t believe you were here in Nashville for the NWTF convention…we probably walked past with other in the isles.

My closet isn’t as full as yours but I am beginning to collect some good gear.  Outfitted myself in Ol’ Tom and saved a couple of bucks using the USA deal & discount code.  Probably going to get into some new boots before the season starts too.  Will probably only hunt here in TN this year but that is OK…we have lots of birds and I am starting to see them in the fields now with the warmer temps.

Make sure you enter our upcoming turkey contest when you score!

I have been turkey hunting for about 15 years now. When I first got introduced to Turkey hunting my buddy told me that it will over take everything you think about hunting wise. Little did i know he was telling the truth. I live in rural Indiana and about 3 years ago they opened up the South Eastern part of my home county. To my knowledge I had never heard of any turkey ever being seen or taken from that property. The Eastern Turkey was re-introduced to Grant County probably about 10 years ago and has done nothing but flourish since. I was able to take a long beard off my parents property that first gun season and then the next year I was able to take a bird as well. The best part my dad was able to take his first turkey ever last year from the property. I think I have him hooked now. The one on one of Turkey hunting is what I love the best. Our season opens on April 25th. SO we are with in 60 days. I can’t wait! Good luck to all!

Have turkeys on the brain too!  Been spring turkey hunting for about 35 year…. simply love the stuff!Never hunted anything but easterns here in VA.  Maybe one day I’ll slip over the line now that I have more time on my hands!
All this talk about the conv. I’ve not been since we had it here in VA.  I’m thinking it’s time to go again. What say, we make some long range plans to attend next year and hook up while there! question

I’m always at the conv. by Friday. Spend Friday and Saturday and Sunday slobbering over ALL of the hunting stuff. Would love to meet any and all USA members. I have taken turkeys in 8 states and hope to add one more next year. All I need is a Rio Grande to complete my list. Going either Kansas or Oklahoma next year to hopefully complete my list. With your 35 and my 45 years of hunting turkeys. We should have some great stories to tell.
