I have some really good deer ground in northern Indiana. I have take a 160” and 140” back to back years. I have put friends on 2 140’s and a 130 and my brother has gotten a good 130. There have been 4 130’s, 3 160’s and a few 140’s in the last 5 years in the 2 sq miles we hunt. Alot of crop field with small woods and a few alfalfa fields are what we hunt. I also have some turkey there and will guide on state property as well. I have killed alot of birds. I am looking for possible rio grande turkey trade or oseola. Maybe mule deer, elk, antelope, or bear.

Would love to help you out on some Michigan black bear, have you ben putting in for points.  Have had real good success here in the upper lower, but you need points.  One of the bear was 400lbs + live weight, and a 20 inch skull.  Let me know

No I haven’t put in for points. I got a buddy that guides in the U.P. and in north eastern Wisconsin. Up in Iron county. I went with him and got a nice one in wisconsin, but someone got to him before we did. I would like to run them with dogs sometime.

I got one over bait and one over dogs, both in the RedOak area.  The dog hunt was a lot of fun, but wasn’t easy.  We have a great population of turkey here also.  Good luck

When do you have to have your info in for the draw? I got a nice hen today with my bow. 74 yard shot. Lucky but I’d rather be lucky than good anyday. I love having a fall turkey while deer season is in.

Michigan has a draw for the fall, but this year they had left over for private lands.  For awhile you could buy one a day, till they were gone, not sure if they still have any.  You’re are right, nothing better than a turkey during bow season.

About the dog running. I know it won’t be easy but I love to hunt over hounds. I was big into coonhunting as a teen and got more into field trialing. I also have done well with field trialing beagles I have a AKC field champ, UKC, and near NKC champion here and it is alot of fun.
