Just wondering about your thoughts on shooting does.  Michigan has made it real easy to shoot a bunch of does, and are real encouaging us to dhoot them. We always manage our land,  not shooting to many bucks and always taking does, but can shooting to many be a problem.

Most farmers I know say you can’t shoot too many deer-does or bucks. I can’t say I’ve ever hunted in a woods that had too many deer. Does are the only thing that replentish the herds. The management guys say what is the ratio per does to bucks. How are you supossed to know how many bucks and does are in the woods. Some days you don’t see any and the next they’re all over. I think people that say they know what their herd consist of are either in a fenced area, or hunting over bait in open territory.
I guess what I’m saying is if you want to control (reduce) the size of the herd in your area shoot a lot does. I’ve had several people tell me there are no bucks in their areas. I ask them if they pass up the does or shoot whatever comes first. After they start passing on the does, they started seeing bucks. I personally like to see a lot of does in my food plots. Come the rut that’s going to draw the bucks.
