I just got my Remington 700 Mountain rifle back from gunsmith. I was at the range week before shooting at 100 yards. First 3 shots were less then an inch group. Then for some reason I was all over the target. I felt the barrel and was not free floating in the stock. Back to the gunsmith. I had it glass beded. Trigger pull was almost 8 pounds. So decided to put a new trigger and its 3 1/2 pound pull. Big difference. I shot again at 100 yards and now have it at a 2 inch group. Look out deer I’m ready finally. I was getting ready to put my gunsmith on retainer

Most people dont realize just how much trigger pull affects your accuracy.  Just be careful that you have it done by someone who knows what they are doing.  I have also seen some triggers that are ridiculously dangerous.  Ive always thought that a rifle should have enough trigger pull that you know you are applying pressure but cant anticipate the shot.  A heavy trigger pull for me is inviting anticipation and an errant shot.

My gunsmith retired from the army and was a gunsmith. He been doing gunsmithing for 30 years for the public here. My new trigger does help with my shooting as it’s 3 1/2 pound pull while one that I had was almost 8 pounds. The glass bedding seem to work. No more barrel rubbing the stock. I will never buy another rifle with a wood stock. All weather or won’t be any more rifles
