USA/TRCP Staff: Don Coburn

Don Coburn (Cobs), Regional Coordinator for the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance in the Great Lake states, joined the TRCP in October 2008. Like many lifelong sportsmen, his passion for hunting began as a child, he still recalls his restless anticipation the night before the annual Thanksgiving Day rabbit hunt, and tagging along behind his dad and the dog with a BB gun.

As an avid hunter and conservationist, Cobs has made a career of sharing his passion for the outdoors. As a Sales Manager with Anheuser-Busch, he was associated as a national or state sponsor with Ducks Unlimited, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Pheasants Forever and Whitetails Unlimited. He also founded the Western Reserve Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited in northeast Ohio and served as its president for more than seven years, eventually becoming a Field Director for the entire organization. Now, Cobs looks forward to combining his outdoor, fundraising and union background to help build membership in the USA.

He grew up in northeast Ohio, and has resided in Columbus, Ohio with his wife Lea since 1999. He is also a graduate of Ohio State University where he played football for the legendary Woody Hayes 1973 - 1976, and earned a BS in Education in 1977.

Cobs enjoys being with family and friends on the water in the summer, hunting upland birds in the early autumn, and hunting big Ohio whitetails with both bow and firearm throughout the season. He thanks his dad for introducing him to hunting and giving him the knowledge to do the kind of work he does today. In his eyes as a child, and in his older eyes today, he can see that his dad simply passed on what had been passed to him. He can think of no greater legacy to leave for his kids, Stephen and Meghan, and for future generations of kids than the legacy of hunting and fishing, and the right to have access to these pursuits.
