Take the Outdoor Life Sportsman’s Pledge
As an American hunter and angler, I pledge to advocate for wildlife conservation, healthy habitat, and sportsmen’s rights. I welcome new outdoorsmen to our woods and waters, I respect wildlife and my fellow sportsmen, and I promise to leave our wild places in better condition than I found them.
More than 65 years ago, Outdoor Life magazine developed the Sportsman’s Pledge to raise awareness of the urgent need to protect the environment and natural habitats. The pledge spread broadly, was recited daily in various schools, and President Truman officially took the pledge while broadcast across radios nationwide. In 1993, Outdoor Life re-released the campaign and again welcomed widespread response.
Hunters and anglers have long been the catalysts of our nation’s conservation movement. As sportsmen, we have traditions that need to be protected and passed along to next generations. For that reason, Outdoor Life is once again reintroducing an initiative to remind outdoorsmen of the importance of maintaining the land and sports that we love. As a community of union sportsmen and women, we have a responsibility to support wildlife conservation, uphold sportsmen’s ethics and help carry on our long-standing traditions.
So we encourage all USA members to sign the Sportsman’s Pledge at and then post on the USA Facebook Wall to let fellow union sportsmen know that you took the pledge and what you’re doing for conservation and to pass on our hunting and fishing heritage.
